| The
start of the year was highlighted by Bob "Bubba" Hunt as the
featured speaker and a fun election chaired by Doug Hincker who would
serve as my Presidential Advisor.
During the year we continued to use Howell as base for monthly meetings but we also scheduled 2 meetings in the west. Summer board was held in the U.P. It was the first time that I ventured that far, 12 or 14 hours almost to Wisconsin, and never left the state. The fall board saw the return of "Peter The Great". The golf outing and the picnic was well attended and the Senate sponsored Millionaires night. We mailed a special edition of the Filibuster to all 1200 or so Senators. During 87/88 we had our first women members. Michelle Arman and Betty Cusic were among the first women to be presented Senatorship's in the USA. It was exciting year also when Pat Malac put his Jaycee membership in escrow and joined the Senate as a full time active member. |
|
| Tom Humphrey, a past Senate President in
Massachusetts, also moved to Michigan and joined our organization.
These events were notable as Michelle, Tom, and Pat were all to become
Senate Presidents.
During the year, we also become charter members of the US JCI Foundation in the name of Doc Huldin. In later years the Michigan Senate would make significant contributions to the Foundation in the names of Tom Humphrey and Hal Krekorian. Thanks for the Fun! East Vice President - John Deegan
