It was an eventful year. As with most Senate years, the people, not
the projects and programs set the stage for success. Elections were
held in February in Wyoming with over 85 Senators and guests in attendance.
The election meeting climaxed with the sounds of popping Champaign corks,
as the hotel served Champaign (intended for the Jaycee F.O.Y.P..
reception) and Hal and I both taking credit.
National Convention was held in Milwaukee with 25 Michigan Senators and wives attending. The combined two day golf outing and family picnic was held in July, chaired by Mark and Janette Schumacher. This event was attended by National President, Tony Dominic, and representatives from Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. Mark was also my Hotline editor. Ken and Cindi Mansfield served all year as hospitality chair couple. Byron Morrison was chairman for the Senate Sponsored Senatorship, and Ed Nicholson was Filabuster editor. |

| The
August meeting was held in Marshall and chaired by Bob Vining. That
month also saw our first involvement with the Renaissance Festival with
Denis (Frenchy) Normand, Dennis Kester, John Deegan, and Gary Richter
helping Scott McKay and the Holly Jaycees. The Mr. Gibby's September
meeting in Flint was chaired by Larry Sills. Tim Ford chaired the
December recognition meeting at Fellows Creek golf course. Don Carn
chaired the post holiday party in January at the Waterford C.A.I.
Hall. And that brought us back to February elections held in the
Farmington Holiday Inn.
